This is the front cover for a fictional children's book.
The story is about a girl who had two great loves; ballet and eating sugar plums.
One day she ate her mothers entire stock sugar plums and ended up being a plum herself.
Because she couldn't dance anymore with this big "plum belly" she reached out to the people in the village if they wanted a piece of the plum. Unfortunately nobody was interested....
The Tsar only liked lemon flavoured candy.
Her grandmother had no teeth anymore.
The hunter only ate meat and the dentist and his son, well....you can figure that one out yourself.
So she had to find other ways....
This illustration is build up from loose coloured pencil drawings and inked typo. I later assembled them in Photoshop and added some colour and texture layers.
